Enameled Summer Berries

I've been playing around with incorporating some new finds into my designs, and what a perfect time of year to introduce some lovely enameled, copper beads handcrafted by a fellow Etsy artisan,
Mary Ann Carroll !

Summer Berries Necklace

I used to make enameled beads myself years ago, but when I came across these beauties I simply couldn't resist.
The colours are fantastically vibrant
I'm absolutely in love with these!

Summer Berry Necklace

Although the bulk of the work is still in the design process in the shop, I thought I'd put these simple necklaces out there to test the market for beaded pieces in the shop.
I've kept the design simple to showcase these enameled lovelies..look for more coming into the shop in the weeks ahead!

Homesick Remedy

Rose Quartz Cocktail Ring - Rose quartz & sterling

Bear Totem - Sterling and coral necklace

It was a lovely couple of weeks back home,
especially this time of year
when spring always seems to come a month earlier than here, on the east coast.

I was able to spend a good many lazy days gazing up at the still-snow covered mountains,
wriggling my pale toes in the warmth of the Okanagan sunshine.
The grass was long, green and lush
and after getting over the strange sensation of walking bare feet though it, Leo was a seasoned pro
 at running around naked
except for a sunhat through the backyard,
plastic shovel and watering can in hand,
terrorizing my mother's delicate flower garden.

And as usual, the time seems to fly by all too quickly
and it's back to the airport to say our good-byes,
trying to swallow the lump in my throat
as my parents frantically wave at us as we walk through security.

Coming home to our house, it's with mixed feelings of relief and emptiness,
a nagging aching in my heart as I try to ignore it,
bustling about the house,
unpacking and getting Leo settled back into our home.

My cure for feeling homesick has been to throw myself back into the routine around here.
With the arrival of spring while we were away, the garden is in dire need of some serious TLC.
The fur baby's been away from her pack for much too long and there are two weeks worth of grooming, tummy rubs and back porch cuddling sessions in the cool evening air.

And when everyone else's needs have been tended to,
there's finally a little time for me.
The shop's been tidied, the tools and equipment oiled and topped up.

A couple of newbies to get me through the week
when I hope to be able to spent a little more time in my favorite place.

I can't wait to get started.
